A garden full of clues
Molesweeper is a free puzzle game you can play directly in your browser. Instead of avoiding explosive mines, you are mapping hidden moles across twenty hand-shaped garden boards.
Every revealed number tells you how many moles are hiding in the surrounding eight positions. Combine those clues, place flags where a mole must be, and uncover every safe tile to calm the garden. Your first dig always protects the chosen tile and its immediate neighbors, so each round begins with useful information instead of an instant loss.
Game overview
Molesweeper keeps the readable clue system of classic Minesweeper while changing the pace. A wrong dig costs one heart instead of ending the board immediately, and a limited hint can reveal a genuinely safe patch when the deduction stalls.
A number describes how many hidden moles occupy adjacent active tiles, including diagonals.
Flags are notes, not guesses. Place one when the surrounding clues leave no safe alternative.
The level clears when every non-mole space is revealed. The game marks remaining moles for you.
Getting started
The board works with a mouse, keyboard, or touchscreen. Choose the input that makes your deduction easiest to track.
Use Dig mode and select a covered tile. Safe blank areas expand automatically.
Use Flag mode, right-click on desktop, or long-press on touch devices.
You receive three hearts per level. Finding a mole spends one and leaves the clue visible.
Each level includes three hints. A hint opens a safe tile or connected safe area.
Select a revealed number after placing the same number of nearby flags to open the remaining neighbors.
Open settings to restart a board, toggle sound or haptics, or reset all local progress.
Rules & strategy
These four ideas solve every board. The detailed guide includes examples for edges, corners, flags, and numbered clue chains.
Your first dig is safe, as are its immediate neighbors. Use the opened area as the starting point for every deduction.
If a “2” touches exactly two covered tiles, both contain moles. Mark them before opening elsewhere.
If a “3” already touches two flags, only one additional adjacent covered tile can contain a mole.
When a clue already has all of its moles flagged, every other covered neighbor is safe to dig.
A changing garden map
Each level changes the active shape, clue density, and number of hidden moles. Early boards teach the controls on compact patterns; later gardens stretch across branches, diagonals, and open pockets that make edge counting more important.
Only visible garden tiles participate, so empty space changes which clues can touch.
Boards grow from 3 moles on Level 1 to 14 moles on Level 20.
Completed levels remain available in the level chooser on the same browser.

9 moles · 54 tiles
14 moles · 63 tiles
Why the puzzle feels friendly
There is no timer pushing you into a guess. Pause, inspect overlapping clues, and continue when the pattern makes sense.
The game does not ask for a name or login. Level unlocks and settings use browser storage on your device.
Short audio and vibration cues can be turned off independently in the settings panel.
Every board tile is a real button with a visible focus state and an accessible label describing its state.
System preferences can remove bounce, confetti, and transition motion without changing the puzzle.
Core game files are cached on supported browsers, so a familiar board can load even when a connection drops.
