Who this policy covers
This policy explains how Molesweeper.app handles information when you visit the website, play the browser game, read a guide, or contact the project. “Molesweeper,” “we,” and “the site” refer to the independent website and browser game available at molesweeper.app.
The site does not require registration and does not offer purchases, profiles, public comments, file uploads, or a cloud-synced save system. If a feature is added that materially changes those facts, this policy will be updated before that feature is used to collect new information.
Game progress stored on your device
Molesweeper uses browser local storage to remember the highest level you unlocked, the last level you selected, and whether sound or haptics are enabled. This information remains in the browser profile on your device. The site does not transmit this game-progress record to a Molesweeper account because no account system exists.
The site also stores your analytics choice—granted or denied—so it does not ask on every page. Local storage is necessary for saved game progress and remembering your privacy preference. You can remove it through your browser’s site-data controls. Removing it resets the associated progress, settings, and consent choice.
Optional Google Analytics
If you select “Allow analytics,” the site loads Google Analytics 4. Analytics can process information such as pages viewed, approximate device and browser characteristics, referring page, general geographic area derived from network information, and gameplay events such as a level start, completion, or failed attempt. Gameplay events contain a level number and basic result information; they are not tied to an account or player name.
Analytics storage, advertising storage, ad user data, and ad personalization are set to denied by default. After consent, analytics storage is granted while advertising storage, ad user data, and ad personalization remain denied. The site disables Google signals and ad-personalization signals in its analytics configuration. If you decline, the Google Analytics script is not loaded by the site.
Google may process network information, including an IP address, to provide the service and derive coarse location or security information. The site asks Google Analytics to anonymize IP handling where supported and does not place personally identifying information in analytics URLs or event parameters. Google’s own handling is described in How Google uses information from sites or apps that use its services.
You can change your choice at any time with the “Privacy choices” button in the footer. Declining future analytics does not automatically delete data already processed by Google. To request assistance related to previously collected analytics data, use the contact address below and provide enough context to identify the request without sending unnecessary personal information.
Cloudflare hosting, delivery, and security
The site is delivered using Cloudflare infrastructure. Like most hosting and security providers, Cloudflare may process technical request data needed to deliver pages, protect the service, diagnose errors, and prevent abuse. This can include IP address, request time, requested URL, response status, browser user agent, network routing information, and security signals.
Those infrastructure records are controlled according to Cloudflare’s services and policies. They are not used by Molesweeper to create a player profile. More information is available in Cloudflare’s privacy policy.
Cookies, advertising, and similar technologies
The core game uses local storage rather than an account cookie. Optional analytics may use cookies or similar identifiers after consent. Browser and hosting technologies may also use short-lived security mechanisms required to serve the site safely.
Molesweeper does not currently require personalized advertising to play. If Google AdSense or another advertising service is activated in the future, this policy and the consent interface will be updated as required before personalized advertising is enabled. Advertising providers may place or read cookies, use web beacons, receive IP addresses, and process other device identifiers to serve, limit, measure, or personalize ads when legally permitted and when the necessary consent exists.
Google explains advertising controls at Google Ad Settings and lists advertising technology providers in its own documentation. The domain’s authorized Google seller entry is published in the root ads.txt file using the publisher identifier from the site owner’s AdSense account. Publishing that record does not mean ads are currently active or that Google has approved this site.
When information may be shared
Information is shared with service providers only to operate, secure, measure, or improve the site as described above. Current categories include hosting and security through Cloudflare and, only after consent, analytics through Google. These providers process data under their own terms and applicable service agreements.
Information may also be disclosed when reasonably necessary to comply with law, respond to a valid legal request, protect users or the service, investigate fraud or abuse, or complete a business transfer. Molesweeper does not sell personal information and does not exchange personal information for money. The site does not knowingly use sensitive personal information for targeted advertising.
Your privacy choices and rights
- Analytics choice: use the footer’s “Privacy choices” control to allow or decline optional analytics.
- Local game data: clear site data in your browser to remove saved unlocks, settings, and the stored consent choice.
- Browser controls: use cookie blocking, tracking protection, or private browsing according to your browser’s documentation.
- Access, deletion, or objection requests: contact the project when applicable law gives you these rights. We may need enough information to understand and validate the request.
Because Molesweeper does not operate user accounts, it may be impossible to connect an anonymous request or hosting log to a specific person without additional details. We will not ask you to provide more information than is reasonably needed for the request.
Children’s privacy
Molesweeper is a general-audience logic game and is not directed specifically to children under 13 or the minimum digital-consent age in a visitor’s jurisdiction. The site does not knowingly collect names, contact details, or account profiles from children. If you believe a child has sent personal information by email, contact us so the message can be reviewed and deleted where appropriate.
Retention, security, and policy changes
Local game data remains until you clear it. Analytics and hosting records are retained according to the configured service settings, operational need, security requirements, and provider policies. Reasonable technical and organizational measures are used, but no internet service can promise absolute security.
This policy may change when the site, providers, or legal obligations change. A revised version will display a new effective date. Material changes that affect optional data collection will be reflected in the consent experience when required.
